We're thrilled to have a special guest with us, Dr. Sonia Sánchez, an ecologist deeply passionate about coastal birds. Sonia's insights are a treasure trove for anyone curious about the incredible shorebirds that grace our coastal shores.

As a project officer on Birdlife Australia's Beach-nesting Birds Program, Sonia's research has delved into the nesting disturbance of one of Australia's most vulnerable coastal shorebirds - the Hooded Plover. Her dedication to these feathered friends is awe-inspiring.

Sonia's love for plovers goes way back, and she's played a pivotal role in the growth of the global Plover Appreciation Day (celebrated every September 16th). Before her role with Birdlife, she dedicated years as a volunteer "plover guardian" within the nationwide Hooded Plover recovery program.

So, whether you're an art enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply curious about these remarkable birds, join us for a sandy adventure, a bit of drawing, and a whole lot of shorebird wisdom.

See you there!
